Thailand is a wonderful place and one of the best places to visit is of course Phuket. It has certainly become a very special place to me and I have been lucky enough to experience, what is quickly becoming, one of the most lively and popular places in all of Asia. I thought I would take the time to blog about some of the things that you absolutely must do there, so read on to find out more.
Phang Nga Bay
This is one of the most stunning sights in all of Phuket, especially when you see the stunning limestone cliffs jutting out of the aqua waters. The amazing scenery in the area also presents an amazing backdrop to what is one of my most favourite places in all of Thailand. This is the perfect place to wander away from all the Phuket villa rentals and see something a little different. The area is also extremely well known for “James Bond” island, which was made famous in the James Bond movie The Man With The Golden Gun. A boat tour of this stunning bay is something that you will never ever forget.
The Old Town
This is one of the most interesting parts of the city itself and has a great mixture of temples, shrines and some beautiful architecture with a mix of European and Asian influences. As with any old town that you will find around the world, the best way to explore it is naturally on foot where you can stop and explore anything that you want. The old town is definitely a huge contrast to the city and is just one of the reasons that it is such a unique place.
Khai Islands
These islands are located only a short distance away from Phuket and are a must see if you are in the area. There are three islands known as Khai Nok, Khai Nai and Khai Nui. Of all of these, Khai Nok has to be my favourite, with amazing aqua coloured waters that are absolutely crystal clear and a stunning white sand beach to match. It is amazing to go snorkeling, swim, view the amazing coral reefs next to Khai Nui or simply relax in paradise.
Phi Phi Islands
This is perhaps one of the most famous attractions in Phuket and it really is not difficult to see why. The islands are located about 45 minutes by boat from Phuket and feature the idealistic beaches that we all picture when we think of paradise. Think white sand, turquoise waters and breathtaking rock formations that we all wish we could experience on a day-to-day basis. There are six islands to explore and even one that is uninhabited! This uninhabited island, called Phi Phi Leh, is the home of Maya Bay and was the set for the Leonardo Di Caprio movie “The Beach”. This is of course perfect for any movie buff wanting to experience a taste of paradise. Here you can swim, relax or snorkel to see the many types of tropical and coral fish in the amazing waters whilst looking up at the 100 metre high cliffs that flank “The Beach”. These islands are an ideal place to explore and are probably my favourite part of Thailand!
