1. Cao Lau Noodles / Cao Lầu
The one who sells the most delicious Cao Lau Noodles in Hoi An is Mrs. Be. Her stall is located beside the water well at the beginning of Hoi An Market. Mrs.Be is old now and her grandchildren have replaced her selling Cao Lau. Many restaurants sell this noodle but not many stores have the tasty flavors just like Mrs.Be’s noodles. Otherwise, you can also eat this local noodle at Mrs. Thanh’s Restaurant at Tran Cao Van Street.
2. Vietnamese Quang Noodles / Mì Quảng
You will find Vietnamese Quang Noodles are sold everywhere in Hoi An. But if you want to eat really tasty Quang Noodles, you should visit Mr. Hai’s stall located in the Hoi An textile market. He starts selling from 7pm every day, his noodles attract a lot of local people as well as visitors. Also you can go to Van Loc Restaurant at Tran Phu Street to experience some amazing local dishes.
3. Hoi An Chicken Rice
Mrs. Buoi Chicken Rice and Mrs. Minh Chicken Rice are two most famous restaurants. However, you can enjoy local chicken rice at a restaurant located in Hoa Hong Valley, Nhi Trung Street; they only sell from 2 pm to 6 pm and the price ranges from 15.000 to 20.000 VND per plate. Their chicken rice is so delicious with a very cheap price, most of the local people in Hoi An go to this restaurant to enjoy the chicken rice.
4. White Rose Dumpling and Vac Cake / Bánh bao bánh vạc
These two foods sell at many restaurants and cafés throughout the city. However, the premier address and also the largest supplier of these dishes is currently the White Rose Restaurant at 533 Hai Ba Trung Street. The price is a little bit higher than other stores, but this is the “must try specialty” of Hoi An and it will not disappoint you.
5. Rice Cracker / Corn Sweet Soup / Minced Clams – Bánh đập / Chè ngô / Hến trộn
Across the Cam Nam Bridge and turn left, there are more than 10 restaurants in Cam Nam Village selling just these 3 dishes. The price is very cheap: Rice Cracker is about 8.000 VND, the Corn Sweet Soup is about 5.000 VND and the Minced Clams range from 20.000 to 25.000 VND.
