Christmas is magical in Lincoln where delights of the festive season find their home in one of England’s greatest heritage cities.
Lincoln’s famous Christmas Market (December 3-6 2015) is a highlight for many as the historic streets of the Cathedral Quarter are filled with festive cheer. You can expect yuletide arts and crafts, flavours of local produce, and hints back to the market’s German origins. Make the most of the fairground rides – including a ferris wheel for stunning views over the city – and enjoy the Christmas atmosphere with carol services and buskers galore.
Lincoln Cathedral makes a beautiful backdrop to the Market but also hosts some of the season’s most festive events. The Cathedral Choir perform Handel’s Messiah in November and the popular Carols by Candlelight later in December – the medieval church providing one of the finest backdrops in Europe for Christmas concerts.
And you can get your skates on in Lincoln too to enjoy the outdoor ice rink in the city centre. Take a break from Christmas shopping and hop onto the rink for some winter exercise and a festive, family activity.
