Kashmir has been a destination I had always wanted to visit. Called the Heaven on Earth, it is a real beauty and the landscape just blows your mind.
My wife and I went there for 1 week and wanted to see all we could. We landed in Srinagar and stayed on the houseboats for 2 days. We had a kind of adventure when a small storm built over the Dal Lake. The boats used to ferry us to and from the house boat had a difficult time getting us in and out. The view from the lake was awesome though and the water so very pure.
We visited Gulmarg (translation: “Meadow of Flowers”) next and stayed in a small hotel. The snow covered peeks of Gulmarg were like eye candy. We just could not stop looking at them, layers and layers of pure white snow in all directions. Our walk in the snow was divine.
Next we moved to Pahalgam and Sonamarg (translation: “Meadow of Gold”). The valleys with trees without leaves were a real treat to experience.
We were in love with Srinagar and it made us very sad to leave, but we did return home, with a promise of visiting Srinagar again.
